Cross-border commuters & e-card<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Privately insured cross-border commuters can also apply for an e-card since 2021! Here you will find the most important information about the application process <\/span>an e-card for ELGA and ehealth purposes.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”922″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\n

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has given IT-supported processes in the healthcare sector a new dynamic. The technical procedures of the ELGA with the e-card as an access key form the basis for recording vaccinations in the e-vaccination record (= central vaccination register). The COVID-19 vaccinations entered there will subsequently also be included in the COVID-19-related certificates, together with negative COVID-19 tests, past and present COVID-19 infections and positive antibody tests. The e-vaccination certificate will presumably also form the basis for the \u201cGreen Passport\u201d, which is set to bring significant simplifications in Austria and other EU countries from the end of June (e.g. for travel). <\/span><\/p>\n

Good to know:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The e-vaccination certificate is currently a database that is only accessible for official queries, for example for statistical evaluations of vaccination coverage rates. It contains at least the same data as the paper vaccination record: Details of the person vaccinated, date of vaccination, trade name of the vaccine, batch name, dose identifier and name of the vaccinating doctor. This vaccination data is not additionally stored on the e-card – you only need the e-card to be able to identify yourself. You can view your vaccination data via the ELGA portal, just as you can view your medical findings and medication. <\/span><\/p>\n

How to apply for an e-card:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The application can be online<\/strong><\/a> at the Austrian Social Insurance (SV). No cell phone signature is required for the application. <\/span><\/p>\n

In order to ensure that the vaccination process runs smoothly, EU citizens resident in Austria can also apply for an e-card for ELGA purposes from the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (\u00d6GK) if they do not yet have an e-card.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can also submit this application for relatives who do not have an e-card.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you already have an e-card, you do not need to apply again. The existing e-card enables access to ELGA and the e-vaccination certificate. <\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row bg_type=”bg_color” bg_color_value=”#000f8a”][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]\n

The e-card serves exclusively as a personal key to the electronic healthcare system and the electronic health record (ELGA). There is no health insurance cover through the \u00d6GK and visits to the doctor are therefore not possible with the e-card. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you (or your family members) are EU citizens and do not have an Austrian driving license, an e-card can only be issued if you or your family members provide a photo. <\/span>You can find all the relevant information at chipkarte.at<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
